217,000 Miles of Friendship: How Far Safe Connections Can Travel
I didn’t set out to launch a startup. I set out to build a better corner of the internet for my own children — one that doesn’t revolve around likes, streaks, or screens that never sleep.
This month, a small milestone stopped me for a moment: children’s letters on Stamplo have already travelled more than 217,000 miles — almost to the Moon. On average, each letter crosses around 4,000 miles, connecting children who’ve never met, across oceans, languages, and time zones.
The Meaning Behind the Miles
Those miles aren’t abstract. They represent what happens when technology slows down. Every letter is written by a child and delivered only after both parents approve. No public feeds. No instant DMs. Just patience, imagination, and a slower kind of connection that kids can enjoy without pressure.
A letter from England to the Philippines, or from Canada to France, isn’t merely a message. It’s a small act of curiosity crossing cultures — with parents guiding the journey at every step.
Built on Safety and Trust
- Four-Eyes Check: reviewed by the sender’s and recipient’s parents before delivery (independent oversight).
- Encryption by default: letters are protected in transit and at rest (privacy and integrity preserved).
- No ads. No tracking. No public profiles: designed for the best interests of the child, aligned with the ICO Children’s Code and COPPA-friendly principles.
Security note — this is the CIA triad in practice: Confidentiality via encryption and strict access; Integrity via approvals and AuditLog; Availability via a simple, resilient delivery flow.
The Big Picture (So Far)
In just a few months, families in 27 countries have joined Stamplo. Together, their letters have travelled nearly nine times around the planet. And we’re only getting started.
